Performance Hosting

Fast sites, properly hosted.

Core Web Vitals, CDN setup, and hosting that doesn't embarrass you on speed tests. We build on Cloudflare, Vercel, Kinsta, and AWS — whichever fits the site. No affiliate commissions; just honest infrastructure picks.

Why sites are slow

Four performance killers we audit for.

Every slow site we've rescued had at least two of these. Fix these and 80% of speed issues disappear — often without rebuilding anything.

Cheap shared hosting

€4/mo hosting sharing CPU with 1000 other sites. Your TTFB is 2 seconds before the first byte leaves. No amount of optimisation fixes the fundamental limit.

No CDN / single-region hosting

Server in Dublin; visitor in Sydney pays 300ms just for round-trips. Edge networks (Cloudflare, Vercel) cache globally — latency collapses. Most sites leave this on the table.

Image weight ignored

4MB JPEGs from the designer, served uncompressed. Modern formats (AVIF, WebP) and proper sizing cut image weight by 70% with no visual loss. Almost always the biggest win.

JavaScript bundle bloat

Every plugin, every tracking script, every 'nice-to-have' library adds to the bundle. By launch, 1.5MB of JS runs before the page is interactive. Visitors leave before it finishes loading.

The three performance layers

Hosting, assets, and monitoring.

Performance isn't one thing you fix. It's three layers that each need attention — and drift backwards the moment you stop watching.

Hosting & infrastructure

The foundation

Proper managed hosting (not €4 shared)
Edge CDN (Cloudflare / Bunny)
HTTP/3 + modern TLS
Server-side caching at multiple layers
Geographically distributed when it helps
Code & assets

What actually gets delivered

Modern image formats (AVIF, WebP)
JavaScript bundling + tree-shaking
Critical CSS inline, rest async
Font loading optimised (FOIT/FOUT)
Third-party scripts deferred or removed
Monitoring & maintenance

Keeping it fast over time

Real User Monitoring (RUM) via GA4 / WebVitals
Synthetic testing (PageSpeed, WebPageTest)
Core Web Vitals alerts on regressions
Monthly performance reviews
Staging environment for testing changes
The providers we use

Four stacks, four different jobs.

We're not locked into one provider — we pick based on the site, the scale, the budget, and what the team can maintain.

Is it a fit?

Performance matters — but only up to a point.

Fast enough is better than fast-at-any-cost. We aim for 'good' Core Web Vitals and real conversion gains — not trophy 100/100 scores that cost more than they earn.

Right fit
We should talk if…
Your site feels slow and you're losing conversions because of it
You're failing Core Web Vitals in Search Console
You're on cheap shared hosting and outgrowing it
Your site is international but hosted in one region
You care about the numbers enough to invest in fixing them
Not a fit
We'll point you elsewhere if…
Your site is already fast — don't over-optimise
You're unwilling to change hosting no matter what we find
You want 100/100 PageSpeed at any cost — diminishing returns kick in fast
You're on a platform (Wix, Squarespace) where we can't control hosting

Common questions

Hosting & performance questions, honestly answered.

The questions Irish SMBs ask us most often.

For Irish SMBs: LCP under 2.5s, CLS under 0.1, INP under 200ms on mobile on 4G. That's 'good' by Google's standards and hits Core Web Vitals thresholds. Going further (sub-1s LCP) is possible but diminishing returns — 90% of the SEO/UX benefit is captured hitting 'good'. We aim for that, not perfection.
Different tools. Cloudflare is a CDN + security layer + edge compute — you put it in front of any hosting. Vercel is application hosting (runs your Next.js). They're complementary, not competing. A common setup: Vercel hosting + Cloudflare DNS/security in front. We'll recommend based on your stack.
Yes, but a small one. Google uses it as a tiebreaker between otherwise similar results. Failing CWV doesn't tank your rankings; passing doesn't guarantee them. The bigger reason to care: CWV correlates strongly with conversion rate. Slow sites lose visitors before they convert — that's where the real cost sits.
For Irish-audience sites, Irish or UK hosting is marginally fastest (closer = fewer ms). With a proper CDN in front, hosting location matters much less — the CDN serves cached content from the nearest edge. We typically host wherever's cheapest/most reliable and let the CDN handle latency.
Depends on budget and scale. Under €50/mo: SiteGround or Kinsta's starter tier. Growth sites €100-500/mo: Kinsta, WP Engine, or Rocket.net. High-traffic sites: Pressable, or a properly configured Cloudflare + dedicated server setup. We don't sell hosting — we'll match you to what fits.
Often yes. Many performance wins are at the code / asset level — image optimisation, JavaScript cleanup, caching config, CDN addition. We'll often get 30-50% speedups without touching hosting. Bigger gains usually do require upgrading from bottom-tier hosting eventually.
